Shape is a factor in the wellness of the residents. Here is a quick reference to guidelines:
Ideal Provides yard for all-around growth, wealth, and happiness. A central courtyard is easy to incorporate in plans for ventilation.
Good. Ideally, the greater length should face North and the lesser width should face the West. It can provide health and wealth and use land better than other shape plots.
Not advisable. The plot shapes are known to be a fire hazard and unstable.
Not fruitful for residences; they can bring ill luck.
Pentagon, hexagon, or octagon shapes are inauspicious.
Narrow in the front, broad in the rear; this plot is good for residences, as it can promote growth and prosperity.
Broad in the front, narrow in the back; advisable for commercial purposes, but not for residences.
Not recommended, as they can generally be inauspicious, unless you engage a Vastu expert to address the corners.
North, East, or North-East extensions are good! South-West, South-East, or North-West extensions are not.
The orientation of the site can influence its applicability.
Preferred site orientation for academics, educators, and spiritual practitioners. Enjoy the sun in the morning.
Feasible site orientation for leaders, administrators, and civil servants.
Excellent site orientation for business and management professionals.
Perhaps a good site orientation for service delivery or supporting services.
Soil type can be paramount in construction.
Soils that are fertile like red, brick-red, brown, or yellow will yield good land for cultivation and will be good for foundations.
Soils that are clayey, black or that retain water can cause dampness and are expensive to waterproof.
Generally avoid a site that is rocky or thorny as these can be indicative of challenging conditions and increased construction costs.
Avoid or assess if the soil is soft or supports or worms, as the soil may be too loose for a stable foundation.
Plots that face roads meeting at either T or Y intersections are referred to as Veethi Shool (Road Arrows). The impact depends on the direction of the traffic on the roads:
East-Northeast, North-Northeast
West-Northwest, South-Southeast
East-Southeast, North-Northwest
West-Southwest, South-Southwest
